Master projects

Welcome to my digital design portfolio. This collection of projects from my Master's degree at the HDM Stuttgart from 10/2023 to this day. The projects range from user experience and user interface focussed applications to respective video implementations and even games - both digital and board games. Testing what is possible in the digital world and how the limits of the classic UX/UI field can be overcome.

With the noise project, we want to draw attention to noise pollution in our environment. Humans are causing an acoustic imbalance in nature. They pollute the marine ecosystem with their ship rotors, oil wells and sound cannons. Through the immersive virtual reality experience of noise, we want to demonstrate to people the impact this can have on the sea and its inhabitants. In this experience, the viewer steps into a glass sphere and is able to see and hear the impact of man-made noise in natural habitats.

The project included the development of a complete immersive experience through 3D animations for virtual reality, the creation of a landing page prototype and an animated trailer for the experience, which you can see below.

Urban and rural areas often tend to increase noise pollution due to the ex-pansion of motorways, neighbouring airports, con-struction work or expansion of living spaces.

For the noise project, we decided to focus on the marine habitat, as man-made noise is unknown to most people and the effects on marine life are dramatic.

In addition to the immersive VR experience, we created a landing page that guides people to noise's locations. They can also create their own noise profile and share it on their social media to create a general awareness of the problem of noise pollution and - if we can convince people - to optimise their behaviour to do something good for nature.

The ‘Noise Recap’ is a function that allows you to create an anonymous noise profile. The integrated artificial intelligence can create a personalised profile by asking various questions.

If you want, you can share the Noise Recap with your friends on social media.

Echo App

"

Experience a new kind of digital balance with Echo! Developed for your iPhone, the AI-powered virtual buddy interacts directly with your Apple Intelligence and keeps a constant eye on your behaviour. For example, if you ‘doom-scroll’ for too long, Echo uses Dynamic Island technology to alert you and suggest alternative activities based on calendar, weather and GPS data, as well as your interests. Through a community feature, Echo not only encourages movement, but also social interaction. By linking Echo with friends, it can automatically plan joint activities. Personalise Echo's interactions and your dashboard to your liking. Available on iPhone, MacBook and Apple Watch, Echo offers seamless integration.

The app is compatible with the Apple Watch. Users can also view their memory and statistics via the app on the Apple Watch, so there is no need to look at their mobile phone.

Integration of the Apple Dynamic Island. The aim is to achieve increased and improved user interaction. The AI Buddy interacts dynamically with the user's behaviour.

Mirror Maze

We were given the opportunity to conduct an extensive user study in the area of experience design. To this end, we developed a board game over the course of two semesters that focuses on teaching colour theory. We focused on the RGB colour space and wanted to analyse which haptic elements and puzzles players could use in a physical game to understand the RGB colour space and use it interactively. In this research through design approach, we were able to create this prototype through iterations. We developed a game card system that guides the players through the flow of the game.

Different refractions, combinations of light beams or the targeted use of shadows are used to illuminate the crystals in order to solve the puzzles of the Mirror Maze.

We built the whole board game using 3D printing and the soldering of LEDs into the game figures.
